The call-out for the 2019 Stoking Curiosity Festival is open!
Stoking Curiosity is the flagship university–community partnership festival of public engagement with research in the Midlands. The festival will be held at the historic Spode Works in Stoke-on-Trent on 22 and 23 November 2019.
The festival presents a great opportunity for academic researchers, communities, business and organisations to share and create knowledge with our local communities. You can do this in a variety of ways that have audience participation at the heart of the activity. The 2018 festival included a programme of 43 diverse activities which included debates and discussions, creative workshops, art installations and we encourage contributions from communities, business and organisations based in the area especially (but not exclusively) if they are already doing community projects or research linked with Keele or Staffordshire University, or are thinking of working with a University to do research together.
If you already are an engaged researcher or considering engaging with a public group in research, the festival offers a chance to make new partnerships or build on previous ones. The networking opportunities and use of curiosity as a lever to engage people in research are particular strengths of the festival.
Read the 2018 Stoking Curiosity Evaluation Report (HERE) to learn more about the festival’s ethos and context.
