Cultural Champion for Tunstall - Dan Townley
Dan Townley

My background in the arts is of a performance nature, I studied performing arts at Stoke-on-Trent college and then moved to Manchester where I gained my degree in Drama and Theatre at the university of Salford

When I moved back to Stoke-on-Trent I became involved in local community radio station 6 towns radio. They share the same passion for the city as me and give me a platform to shout about how good Stoke-on-Trent is to thousands of listeners who are a mixture of people from the area and further afield.

I am also a co-founder of Bottle Kiln Theatre – A local company set up after being inspired by the city of culture campaign. We work with younger actors from the city who might not always get the opportunity to experience training in the arts.

Naturally we were all disappointed when Stoke-on-Trent didn’t get the title of ‘2021 city of culture’ but I believe this city has a lot more to give than what people would lead you to believe and I am proud that I can represent the town that I grew up in (and still live in!)
